How can we help?
We are a dedicated mixed practice treating all animals, family pets, horses, farm animals as well as exotics.
At JP Vets our team of veterinary surgeons and nurses are all animal lovers and have quite an array of pets! We care for your pets, both large and small, as if they were our own.
We always have an experienced
veterinary surgeon and nurse available 24 hours a day.
Please note that this service is reserved for registered clients only.
In case of emergency please call:
We are now offering our full range of services again, including annual vaccinations, however after conducting risk assessments it has been decided for the safety of our staff and clients to continue to ask clients to wait in the car park and call on arrival. Please bear with us as we try to answer all telephone calls and clients at the door, if we do not answer straight away it is because we are with pets inside the building it is never our intention to ignore you. We do have staff on site throughout the whole day so that clients are able to see a vet as quickly as possible when they arrive. We are committed to providing a service to our clients in the best and safest way possible, this continues to be a very stressful time for everyone and we understand emotions may run high, but any abuse of staff will not be tolerated. Please help us to help your pets.
↔️For the safety of our staff please abide by the requests to stay outside the practice and 2 metres from staff at all times so that we can continue to be there for you.
🚑Please continue to discuss your animal’s needs through a phone call or email in the first instance, we may be able to help without you needing to attend the practice.
⏰For now we are continuing with having at least one vet and nurse available throughout the day to see your pet rather than our usual consult hours.
📞Please telephone when arriving at the practice (or knock on the door, but bear with us if we are unable to answer straight away).
🐱Small pets should be secured in a carrier which can be safely placed on the floor allowing you to step away before a vet or nurse approaches.
🐶Larger dogs should have a secure collar or harness and suitable length lead which can be passed at arm's length.
💊Medication collection will be placed in a box by the front door unless you have identified you wish to remain in your car.
Unrelated to the Covid-19 situation, please be aware that some prices have changed this month too.
As new Government guidelines regarding the Covid-19 pandemic come into place today it does not mean much difference for hardworking veterinary practices who have remained open for the benefit of your pets throughout the lockdown. We are NOT yet returning to pre-pandemic services.
In accordance with guidance given by the RCVS and BVA we are beginning to transition towards providing as full a range of veterinary services as possible whilst continuing to work safely. This transition will take time and must be done in line with legislation and guidance, in the context of safe working practices, and in line with clinical and professional judgement and available resources
Thank you to our clients for their support and understanding during the past few weeks.
The RCVS and BVA published a joint statement on the changes to veterinary work now required as a result of the Prime Minister’s #StayHomeSaveLives address in March.
Veterinary practices may remain open under the new rules. However, the number of clients seen face-to-face should be kept to a minimum and veterinary teams must insist on strict social distancing measures at all times.
During this period veterinary professionals can continue to work but must only provide urgent treatment and emergency care where animal welfare would be compromised by delaying for this period of time.
We are committed to continue to provide essential care for your companion animals, however to protect you and our staff we are introducing a few changes:
We are no longer running our normal consulting hours however there will be a vet and nurse on site between 9am and 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on Saturday. Our own usual out of hours emergency cover will continue.
All doors will remain closed at all times. This means:
o Clients should wait in the car/outside and telephone on arrival
o Animals should be collected from outside the practice by a member of staff
o Clients should remain outside whilst the patient is examined away from the owner
o After examination, treatment plans should be discussed and agreed over the phone
o Payments should be made over the phone within 24 hours of being seen
Please call before attending the practice as we continue to only see patients for essential veterinary care, where there is a risk to animal welfare or human health over a rolling two month period. In most cases our vets and nurses can provide advice or medication prescriptions over the phone or email.
Non urgent medications and repeat prescriptions can be posted for a small fee, please ask when requesting medications. Our suppliers have decreased their normal deliveries, therefore we ask clients to give us at least 48 hours notice when ordering medications.
The practice is always thoroughly cleaned at least twice daily as standard however we have increased the frequency of cleaning of touch points such as door handles, keyboards, phones and the card machine. We have received advice from the manufacturers of our cleaning products to confirm they are effective against this current strain of coronavirus and have followed their advice regarding dilution rates.
Clients are welcome to use available sinks to wash their hands or use the hand sanitiser available on the reception desk. We will not be offended if any client wishes to wear gloves and/or a face mask, which we will happily provide for you.
Following the advice from the RCVS and other welfare groups we would urge clients to set up a network of friends, neighbours or relatives who would be able to bring your pet to the surgery in the event that you are unwell and unable to attend yourself or are in the category of high risk individuals who are choosing to self-isolate.
